Everything you need to vote in Indiana's 2026 General Election, in one place. Election Day is . Polls are open 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., local time. Every link below goes to the official state or county page.

Vote in Indiana

All four open the official Indiana voter portal, indianavoters.in.gov (Indiana Secretary of State). Or call 1-866-IN-1-VOTE. To register by mail or in person instead, see Voter Registration (Indiana Election Division).

Key dates: 2026 General Election

  1. Last day to register or update your registrationOnline at IndianaVoters.in.gov until midnight, or at your county voter registration office by close of business. A mailed form must be postmarked by this day.
  2. ends at noon on the last dayEarly voting in personAlso called absentee in person. Vote at your county clerk's office or a satellite site before Election Day. Days, hours and places are set by each county.
  3. Travel board voting beginsFirst day a confined voter, a voter caring for a confined person, or a voter with disabilities may vote before a bipartisan travel board.
  4. 11:59 p.m.Vote-by-mail application must be receivedThe county or the Indiana Election Division must have your application by this time. A postmark does not count.
  5. Saturday early votingThe county clerk's office is open at least seven hours for early voting on both Saturdays.

Vote early or by mail (absentee)

Early voting in person

Registered voters can vote early in person at the county clerk's office or a satellite site, on the dates above. Bring your photo ID.

Vote by mail

To vote by mail you need one of the reasons the state allows, and you apply for each election. Some of them:

The full list is on the state's Absentee Voting page. Apply online at IndianaVoters.in.gov (choose ABS-Mail), or send the ABS-Mail form by mail, email or hand delivery. Include your Indiana driver's license or ID card number, your voter ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number, or a copy of your photo ID.

Your application must be received by 11:59 p.m., . Your ballot must reach the county by 6:00 p.m. on Election Day; a postmark does not count.

Travel board

A bipartisan team brings the ballot to you and can help you mark it, if you will be confined by illness or injury (or caring for someone who is), have a disability and believe your polling place is not accessible to you, or cannot mark the ballot and sign on your own. Apply with the ABS-Traveling Board form; it must be received by noon, . Appointments may be limited, so apply early.

Photo ID at the polls

Indiana requires a photo ID to vote in person. It must:

An Indiana driver's license, Indiana photo ID card, military ID or U.S. passport usually works. A school or college ID does not (since July 1, 2025). No ID? You may cast a provisional ballot and then have until noon, 10 days after the election, to show ID to the county election board. The BMV gives a free state ID card for voting, and its paper temporary card is accepted.
